FRIENDSHIP FORCE INTERNATIONAL

Friendship Force International is a non-profit organization focused on promoting goodwill, understanding, cultural education and citizen diplomacy through home-stay journeys.
The organization was founded in 1977 by Wayne Smith and U.S. president Jimmy Carter. Mission: to promote global understanding across the barriers that separate people. The group follows the philosophy that every friendship formed across the barriers of nationality, language, religion, or politics makes the world a better place.
When travelling, we become an ambassador for Canada, and when we host people from other parts of the world, we are ambassadors, making lifelong friendships and memories. It’s not just a travel club, but it’s all about building world peace! There are more than 15,000 members, travellers, and hosts, in 350 clubs in more than 60 countries.
For outgoing journeys (trips), one or two people from the club take up the responsibility of coordinating with the host group. On the other end, hosts form a committee to look after all the matters around hosting a group. The result is new lifelong friendships and amazing connections with people around the world as we learn about their life and experiences.
A world of friends is a world of peace
The local club, Friendship Force Lake Simcoe, is planning an event for Nov. 23 at The MacLaren Art Centre to spread the message and connect with people in Barrie who may be interested in this concept. Limited space is available; please register as soon as possible; the deadline is Nov. 18.
