NEWS RELEASE

SOUTH SIMCOE POLICE

*************************
On Sunday, July 3, 2016, just before 6 p.m., South Simcoe Police responded to a call of a stolen tractor trailer on Reagen's Industrial Parkway in Bradford.

The owners of the truck had tracked its location on GPS, and called police to report.

Responding officers spotted the truck driving south on 10 Sideroad.

As the officers approached and attempted to apprehend the tractor trailer, a van behind the truck impeded their progress. Officers were able to stop both the truck and van, arresting the driver of the van.

By the time they got to the truck, the driver had fled on foot. York Regional Police Canine Unit attended and tracked the suspect, who was eventually arrested.

Other officers responded to the original location and located a rented cube van and two suspects whom had been detained by the original callers.

Those two men were also taken into custody, and a quantity of stolen items that they had off-loaded from the tractor trailer were seized.

All four suspects have been held in custody for a bail hearing today.

A 33-year-old, and a 38-year-old, both from Brampton, a 38-year-old from North York and a 27-year-old from Caledon have been charged with possession of property obtained by crime.

The Caledon man, the driver of the van, faces an additional charge of obstruct police.
