Georgian Grizzlies women’s badminton players Courtney Brewer and Michelle Kozlowskyj have been named OCAA east regional all-stars.
The announcement took place at the banquet for the 2019 OCAA Badminton Championships on Friday morning in Mississauga.
The duo of Brewer (Manitouwadge) and Kozlowskyj (Garson) went a perfect 5-0 last weekend at the OCAA East Regional Championships in the women’s doubles competition to finish in first place and qualify for the provincial championship. Last season as a team they earned a bronze medal at the OCAA Championships.
The 2019 OCAA Badminton Championships take place Feb. 15-16 hosted by the University of Toronto Mississauga. Play begins on Friday afternoon with the start of round robin action with the medal rounds taking place on Saturday. Also competing at the Championships and representing Georgian is rookie Jessica Maher (Tottenham). Maher finished second at the East Regionals last week in the women’s singles completion with a 5-1 record to qualify of the provincials.
