Police looking for three masked men with handguns (update)

A high school and three elementary schools were placed on hold and secure briefly. All schools released now and no immediate threat

3:13 p.m. update:

Police are hunting for three masked men all armed with hand guns after what officers are calling a "targeted" robbery on a residential street.

According to investigators, a man wearing a lot of jewelry was moving in a U-Haul truck on Pass Court.

The man told police that he was in the vehicle with another man and a woman when they were approached by three masked men armed with guns who demanded the victim's jewelry.

There was a short struggle and the victim ran into a nearby bush area.

The suspects took off on foot.

Sgt. Glen Furlong from the Investigative Services Branch of Barrie Police says the police dog tracked them for a bit but then the scent was lost.

"This is concerning. We take this very seriously. We have people with firearms on a residential area," said Furlong.  "We think this is a targeted incident and as such we don't think the general public is in danger in the context of these individuals trying to rob someone randomly on the street."

The victim, who suffered several abrasions, was examined at the scene by Simcoe County Paramedics but plans to seek his own medical attention.

Police say the would-be robbers fled without obtaining anything.
