First day of spring attracts walkers to the waterfront (5 photos)

Waterfront trails proved an attraction on the first day of spring; forecast calls for more mild temperatures, rain this week

As the ice along the shoreline begins to melt people seem to be heeding the warnings from local authorities to stay off the ice on Kempenfelt Bay on Sunday.

Ice huts have all been removed from the melting surface of the bay and nary a fisher was in sight.

Waterfront trails proved an attraction on the first day of spring. But there was a constant wind which kept the spears in the Spirit Catcher dancing.

The thaw is bound to continue with daytime temperatures this week above zero along with some promise of rain.
