Fairview Road closed after woman ejected from motorcycle

Fairview Road was closed for nearly two hours for the cleanup and investigation

Fairview Road was closed for nearly two hours Monday morning after a woman was ejected from her motorcycle following a crash in the city's south end.

The call came in shortly after 9 a.m. for a collision involving a sport bike on Fairview between Little Avenue and Essa Road, in front of the Holiday Inn.

According to a Barrie police officer who was first on the scene, the 29-year-old Tiny Township woman was "awake and alert" when he arrived.

She was taken to local hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say the woman turned northbound onto Fairview Road from Little Avenue and lost control heading down the hill near the curve in the road and struck a car.

The motorcycle rider left the bike before it collided with another oncoming vehicle. The driver continued to travel into oncoming traffic; however the quick actions of an attentive driver travelling southbound, maneuvred his truck and missed the female.

No one else was injured.

Fairview Road was closed between Essa and Little for the cleanup and the investigation but has since reopened.
