Edgehill Dr. plan could see 16 storeys built with 468 apartments

'This is the neighbourhood meeting to hear about the proposal and make comments,' says deputy-mayor

The latest development proposal for 70 and 76 Edgehill Dr., located in west-end Barrie at the bottom of Anne Street, is 16 storeys of 468 residential apartments.

A virtual neighbourhood meeting on the plan will be held on Wednesday, March 30 at 5 p.m.

“Originally, the site of two single-family homes, one of the lots was rezoned for a 12-storey highrise with 218 units some years ago,” said Deputy Mayor Barry Ward, who is also the Ward 4 councillor.

“Another proposal came forward for townhouses, but that was not advanced through the planning process,” he said.

Ward said the two properties are now under the same owner  AuroEdge.

The combined 70 and 76 Edgehill properties are just more than five acres.

Both the rezoning and Official Plan amendment applications for this property are at the pre-application, public consultation stage, of the development review process.

“This is the neighbourhood meeting to hear about the proposal and make comments,” Ward said. “It is not the official public meeting needed for rezoning.”
