On the 24th of April 2016 at 8:21 a.m. a South Simcoe Police officer was on patrol on Innisfil Beach Road east of Yonge Street.

At this time a westbound 2007 Honda Civic Si was observed travelling at a very high rate of speed.

The officer was able to utilize a moving radar device and found the vehicle to be travelling at 112km/h in a posted 60km/h zone.

Police stopped the vehicle and learned that the two occupants were on their way to a local race track.

Police learned that the passenger had let the accused test drive his new vehicle.

The driver, a 20-year-old Innisfil man, was charged with speeding - 112km-h in a posted 60 km-h zone and driving stunt - in excess of 50km-h over the posted limit.

The accused will be appearing in Provincial Court in June to answer to the charges.

The vehicle has been impounded for seven days.
