Twenty-five players from Barrie and 25 more from Penetanguishene had the chance to play for Delta Bingo and Gaming's Biggest Jackpot Ever.

They were among more than 400 ticket holders from across Ontario who gathered for a gala New Year's Eve event in Toronto.

The players competed for a $500,002 total prize board and single-game $250,002 jackpot -  the largest single-game bingo jackpot in Canadian history.

A Brampton woman took home the big prize.

There were no big-ticket winners from Simcoe County, but two people won $1,000 each on Delta Balls Pull Tab Tickets.

“This was a milestone year for our company, our charities, and our staff so we wanted to make it a special year for our customers as well,” said Cam Johnstone, Delta Bingo and Gaming CEO. “From vehicle giveaways to our Biggest Jackpot Ever, it’s been incredible celebrating our 50th anniversary with our customers across Ontario. It was an amazing experience and we are thrilled for Terri and all of our big winners!”

Since July 1, players have competed at Delta Bingo and Gaming locations to win a “Golden Ticket” and their opportunity to play for Delta’s Biggest Jackpot Ever. The event was the culmination of Delta Bingo and Gaming’s 50th anniversary celebrations, which was launched by giving away 12 Ford Escape vehicles at Delta locations across the province this summer.

Family owned and operated by the Cameron and Johnstone families, Delta Bingo and Gaming supports over 875 local Ontario charities with whom they raise over $20 million annually.  These charitable funds stay within the local community and support a variety of important initiatives, from providing equipment to local hospitals and materials for local animal shelters, to supporting local children’s sport groups and much more.

The Delta Bingo and Gaming in Barrie is located at 52 Bayfield St.
