Crashes snarl local roadways around Barrie

Police encourage residents to remain off the roads if possible

Emergency officials continue to alert area residents to stay off wind-swept roads in the Barrie area as they respond to crashes.

Three vehicles, including a transport truck, collided causing the closure of Highway 400 extension at Forbes Road around noon, Saturday.

Barrie Fire deputy chief Carrie Clark said that crash resulted in one minor injury.

Meanwhile, crews in Barrie responded to a seven-vehicle crash around 11 a.m., Saturday, in the Livingstone Street and Sunnidale Road area where officers remained on the scene. 

A second crash occurred approximately 15 metres away, also on Sunnidale Road, involving three vehicles.

Barrie police communication co-ordinator Peter Leon said there was extensive damage to some of the vehicles and minor injuries, with no one taken to hospital.
