NEWS RELEASE
TOWN OF INNISFIL
*************************
A boil water advisory will remain in effect overnight for all residents in the Cookstown area who live on or east of Highway 27.

A watermain break early this morning resulted in the draining of water from the nearby Cookstown Water Tower. Due to the drop in water pressure, the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit requires a boil advisory as a precaution.

The advisory remains in effect until further notice and will be lifted once the safety of the water has been confirmed by laboratory tests. The affected area is being flushed and preliminary results from the laboratory are expected within 24 hours.

14 residential customers are currently without water so that repairs on the broken watermain can be completed. Victoria Street East from Highway 27 to Cook Avenue remains closed during the repairs. A section of the road will be excavated (and subsequently restored) to conduct repairs.

The boil water advisory affects approximately 400 residents. In addition to posting information on the Town of Innisfil and InnServices’ digital channels, notices are being delivered to the affected homes.

Residents should use an alternate water supply or boil their water at a rolling boil for a least one minute before drinking, gargling, brushing teeth or rinsing their mouth; making baby food or formula; washing dishes; washing fruits, vegetables and other foods; or making any meals, drinks or ice.
