The City’s Invest Barrie division has partnered with Women in Tech World (WinTech) in order to connect women in our region who are in the tech industry and discover ideas to better promote the industry to women.

WinTech is working on an extensive report on the current state of women in tech across Canada. In developing this report, the organization is launching a community-based research tour called Driving WinTech. The tour will stop in Barrie tonight with an event taking place from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Suiteworks Business Centre, located at 92 Captain Ave. N. This event will be moderated by the City’s Director of Creative Economy, Karen Dubeau.

“We’re pleased to partner with WinTech on this exciting research,” said Karen Dubeau, director of Creative Economy. “The results will help us to better understand how we can get more women interested in the tech industry in our community.”

The Driving WinTech tour will be stopping in over 30 cities across the country, reaching over 2,500 participants and 10,000 stakeholders, through 50 community conversations lead by expert panelists. The findings from the tour will be shared back with the partner organizations.
