Council still wants its face time.

Although the city has added new building committee meetings on Tuesdays, there is no television coverage.

The Tuesday meetings, which are returning after a long absence and are expected to become more frequent in the new year, have been moved from the usual Monday night agenda in order to give council more time to deal with other matters.

Public meetings under the Planning Act will be held the first and third Tuesday of each month. They had previously been held during council's general committee meetings.

Rogers TV broadcasts city council and general committee meetings on Monday nights, but will not be covering the additional Tuesday meetings due to scheduling conflicts, councillors learned last night.

With so much growth happening in the city and the pace of applications coming before council, Mayor Jeff Lehman has said it made sense to resurrect the building committee meetings on Tuesdays, which will allow for a more "fulsome" discussion and review.

However, Deputy Mayor Barry Ward asked city staff if there was any way for residents to watch the Tuesday meetings, which will include presentations on proposals from developers on various projects.

City clerk Wendy Cooke said the Tuesday meetings, including last night's inaugural gathering, will be recorded and posted to the website the following day.

The city's IT staff can also look into whether meetings can be live-streamed, she added.

"It is the best show in television," Lehman joked.
