NEWS RELEASE
CITY OF BARRIE
*************************
The City of Barrie is now accepting applications for renovation grants through the Built Boundary Community Improvement Plan (CIP).

Anyone who owns a property located in the Urban Growth Centre or who owns property listed on the Municipal Heritage Register can apply for the grant that covers 50 per cent of the costs of renovation work (up to $25,000 per property).

The renovation grant program was created to encourage improvement, restoration and adaptive re-use of historic homes and existing buildings in the Urban Growth Centre. It is one of two financial incentives offered through the City’s Built Boundary CIP program.

In 2017, the program funded 14 grants for a total of $303,096. This year, the total available funding amount is $340,000, which is shared between renovation and redevelopment grants.

An information session will be held tomorrow (July 5) and July 18 for anyone looking for application support. Both drop-in sessions will take place in the City Hall Rotunda (70 Collier Street) from 4-7 p.m.

Renovation grant applications are being accepted until Aug. 3, 2018. Redevelopment grant applications are accepted year-round. For more information on these grants please visit ‘Financial Incentives’ here.
