With just a few short weeks left before Santa Claus slides down the chimneys of Barrie and area homes, Christmas Cheer is currently sitting at $70,000 raised, a far cry from their ultimate goal of raising $250,000.

Barrie and District Christmas Cheer depends heavily on the generosity of the community, local business owners and corporate sponsors in order to ensure that over 1,700 families in Barrie, Innisfil, Angus, Oro-Medonte and surrounding area are provided with a magical Christmas morning.

Over the next two weeks, Christmas Cheer volunteers will be kicking fundraising efforts into high gear and will be reaching out to the community as they initiate a final push for donations in order to meet the needs of each family that they will be supporting this year.

With applications still coming in, they are predicting to have around 5,500 people that will acquire assistance, which is already a higher number than the previous year.
