WELLAND – After being named Intercounty Baseball League Player of the Month for May, Barrie's Jordan Castaldo didn't slow down to start June.

Castaldo went 3-for-3 with his fourth home run of the season in the Baycats' 18-5 win over the Welland Jackfish Saturday night at Welland Stadium. Castaldo also walked four times to boost his IBL-best on-base percentage. 

Ryan Spataro singled, doubled and drove in three for Barrie (6-1). Kevin Atkinson had two singles and a run, Kyle DeGrace scored three times, Branfy Infante went 2-for-4 with two RBI and two runs, Darren Shred had an RBI and three runs, while Jeff Cowan and Parker Walker each had two RBI and combined to score five runs. 

Emilis Guerrero (2-0) picked up the win. He went six innings and gave up an unearned run on four hits with two walks and eight strikeouts. 

Braulio Ortiz (0-1) took the loss, surrendering seven runs on two hits over 2.1 innings. He walked seven and struck out three.

Grant Okawa had a pair of RBI for Welland (3-3). Andrew Mercier and Brendon Dadson each collected an RBI, Mattingly Romanin had two hits, an RBI and a run, and DeAndre Asbury-Heath went 3-for-4 with a run.

Villalona breaks out in Royals' win 

GUELPH – Angel Villalona snapped an 0-for-10 skid with four hits, including his first home run of the season, to lead the Guelph Royals to a 7-5 win over the London Majors Saturday afternoon at David E. Hastings Stadium. 

Villalona added three singles and drove in two while scoring twice as Guelph improved to 3-4. Justin Interisano, Ricky Murray and Matthew Pilarczyk drove in the other runs. Josh Garton had two hits and two runs, and Ethan Mohan singled and scored twice. 

Yomar Concepcion (1-0) went six innings, allowing four runs (three earned) on four hits with four walks and eight strikeouts. 

Brett Lawson picked up a two-inning save – his first of 2019 – striking out three. 

Ismael Pena and Cleveland Brownlee each hit solo home runs for the Majors (2-7). Jonathan Duforest had an RBI and scored, Evan Britt singled twice and scored, and Carlos Artega had an RBI. 

Migel Burgos (0-1) gave up six runs on nine hits in 6.1 innings. He walked three and struck out five. 

Panthers' win streak reaches four 

KITCHENER –The Kitchener Panthers' win streak reached four after a 9-1 win over the Brantford Red Sox Saturday at Jack Couch Park. 

Tanner Nivins went 2-for-4 with a solo home run for Kitchener. Jeff Hunt had three hits, two RBI and two runs, Brian Burton singled twice, Zach Johnson had two hits and scored, Ryley Davenport drove in a run and scored twice, and Mike Gordner and Andy Leader each drove in a run. 

Christian Hauck (1-0) earned the win with seven scoreless innings. He scattered three hits and walked two and struck out five. 

Austin Wilkie singled twice for the Red Sox (1-5). Michael Bruder scored the lone run. 

Edison Frias (0-1) went five innings, allowing four runs on nine hits two walks and three strikeouts.
