The 2016 Mayor's New Year's Levee and Brunch brought together the tastes of Barrie, as local restaurants contributed dishes to the event.

Now the results are in and Mayor Jeff Lehman presented a $3,396 cheque to the United Way of Greater Simcoe County this week.

The fifth annual event included an elegant brunch and a free drop-in meet and greet with the mayor.

Food to entertainment included new participants Hudson, an award-winning restaurant in downtown Barrie; the Lazy Tulip Café and ‘cup.CAKE’.

Tara Indian Cuisine was back for another year and Fair Trade Barrie provided tea and coffee.

The event has "taken off", and organizers are pleased that participation is up and dishes are creative and presented in the City Hall Rotunda that is elegantly decorated for the occasion.

Live entertainment at this year’s brunch included four-piece group Jazz Mandu, with special guest vocalist Aura.
