Updated: CIBC robbed (Suspect photos added)

Barrie Police have released security camera images of a suspect wanted in a bank robbery Monday afternoon

Barrie Police have released security camera images of a suspect in a robbery at the CIBC on Mapleview Drive West and the 400.

Police say that around 4:20 Monday afternoon, a man entered the bank, indicated he had a gun and demanded $30,000 in cash.

He fled the scene with almost $700.

No weapon was seen and employees and customers inside the bank were not hurt.

A Barrie Police Service canine unit, including police dog Thor, have searched the area.

The suspect is described as white, about 20-years-old, clean shaven and a freckled blotchy complexion, about 5'5", average build.

He was wearing a black toque with white stripe on the rim, a dark jacket with a dark hoodie underneath, dark pants and black shoes/hikers.

This is the second bank robbery in Barrie in less than a week.

Last Wednesday, a young man made off with cash after a robbery at the Scotiabank on Bayfield.

Police released surveillance camera images of that suspect but there's been no arrest yet.

Barrie Police media relations officer Const. Nicole Rodgers tells BarrieToday that the suspect description appears different in each case but investigators "are not ruling out a connection nor confirming a connection at this time."
