NEWS RELEASE
BRAVADO SHOW CHOIR

A joy of living in central Ontario is experiencing the four seasons to their fullest. At their spring show, Bravado will celebrate the sizzle of summer, praise the universe for spring, reflect on the rustle of autumn leaves, and witness the wondrous white of winter from the comfort of Georgian Theatre without worrying about mosquito bites, horse flies, sunburns, frost bite or big city prices.

The Seasons concert promises to satisfy a variety of tastes – celtic folk, classical, jazz, pop, show tunes, country, and more! Bravado! seasonings include the salty brine of the sea, the sweetness of summer love, the bitterness of lost love, spicy salsa, and the acerbic taste of poison and monsters, mixed up with choreography and staging that will have the audience sambaing in the street, singing in the rain and walking on sunshine.

Guest artists include Derryl Johnson on flute, Melanie Kappel on cello and violin, Latino dance specialist, Fredy Mendoza, along with the ever-excellent Bravado Show Band: Paul Everett, Allan Halford, Ralph Johnson and Ellen Wells.

Bravado!’s mission statement “Building Community through Music” will be applied with the promotion of the Seasons Centre for Grieving Children, at the concert. The Seasons Centre is a charitable organization providing free-of-cost support for children, teens, young adults and caregivers grieving the death or life-threatening illness of a family member. Their support groups create a safe, comfortable space for participants where they feel understood and not alone when talking about their grief, thus building resilience and coping strategies. The Centre does not receive government funding and relies solely on the generosity of the community. Bravado! for All Seasons’ concession proceeds will be donated to the Centre.

Bravado!, Barrie’s show choir, was formed in 1996 with a vision towards creating a multi-artistic experience. Under the musical direction of Marianne Derow, the choir continually challenges traditional notions of choral music by layering vocal excellence with the visual appeal of staging and choreography. Bravado! performs all music from memory, getting “off the page” and allowing a more personal connection with their audience. Bravado!’s choral-fusion style transitions fluently from classical through gospel, jazz and Broadway to rock without sacrificing musical excellence. The concert takes place at Georgian Theater and tickets are available through the City of Barrie Box Office - 705-739-4228. More information at www.bravadoshowchoir.com.
