McDonald's Restaurants in Barrie hope to take a big bite out of Zach Makes Tracks' fundraising goal of $100,000.

Zach Hofer, the 13-year-old fundraising phenom has raised just under $83,000 for the new Child and Youth Mental Health facility at Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre.

"He's so close," wrote Zach's mom Shelley on their Facebook.

Zach completed an epic journey this summer running, walking and biking from Barrie to Ottawa to raise money for RVH and awareness about youth mental health.

He started in mid-August and arrived on Parliament Hill on Sept. 10 - World Suicide Prevention Day.

On Wednesday, Nov. 22, between 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Barrie area McDonald's Restaurants will donate $1 from each Big Mac sold to Zach Makes Tracks.

"Why is the Big Mac so significant to Zach? If you don’t remember, we asked Zach what he would like at the finish line of his journey to Ottawa on Parliament Hill. He said he wanted two things: a ribbon to run through – and a Big Mac (his favourite burger)," Shelley said

"Stay tuned for more details – we’ll be visiting a few locations with the RV," she added.
