Southern Georgian Bay OPP continue to investigate incidents of tempered lug nuts

PENETAGUISHENE – Members of the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating three separate incidents where the lug nuts of a vehicle had been tampered with.

Overnight on May 19 to May 20, 2016 the front tire lug nuts on a motor vehicle parked at a residence on Cambridge Street in Penetanguishene had been loosened.

On June 6, 2016 the lug nuts on a motor vehicle parked at a Harriet Street residence in Penetanguishene had been removed. The owner had driven a distance with the tampered lugs nuts but luckily nobody was hurt.

On June 21, 2016 the owner of a motor vehicle parked at a residence on Beaulieu Drive in Penetanguishene noticed one of the wheels on his motor vehicle was falling off. The investigation revealed that the lug nuts had been loosened sometime overnight.

Southern Georgian Bay OPP is asking the public to be on the lookout for any suspicious activity in their neighborhood and call 911 or Provincial OPP communications dispatch: 1-888-310-1122
