Barrie Police are urging the public to stay off the ice!

According to the Ministry of Resources; ice should not be considered safe to walk on until it is between 4"-6" thick.

You should not consider bringing your snow machines or all -terrain vehicles onto the ice until it is at least 5" - 7" thick.

While smaller sheltered areas may appear to be frozen, Kempenfelt Bay is believed to be no more than 3" thick.

It is advised that people avoid venturing onto the ice until we have had a few more days of consistently low temperatures.

Barrie Police want you to enjoy the many outdoor activities that winter in Barrie offers but please do so safely.
