BARRIE POLICE SERVICE
*************************
The Barrie Police Service is pleased to announce that our online crime reporting options have now expanded to allow for reporting of fraud.

The online service requires users to input information on the date and time of the occurrence, contact information for the person reporting, and details of what took place. There is also the option to add information on people or vehicles involved in the occurrence.

Occurrences reported through the Citizens Online Reporting option are received and investigated by officers in the Alternate Response Unit and the Fraud Unit.

Fraud is defined as a prohibited act of deceit, falsehood or any other fraudulent means that deprives a person/business of any property, money or valuable security or service. This can include credit card fraud, identity theft, cyber/online fraud, bank fraud, cryptocurrency fraud or romance/grandparent scams. Please visit the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre website for more information on known scams or frauds.

If you have not been defrauded of money or property, but have received some type of communication, such as a phone call or text asking for money, please contact the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre at 1-888-495-8501 or visit their website at https://www.antifraudcentre-centreantifraude.ca/

This new online reporting option is in addition to the existing online reporting options including:

Members of the public can still call the Barrie Police non-emergency line at 705-725-7025 and follow the prompts to have officers respond to a non-emergency occurrence. The online service is not meant to take reports of emergencies, where 911 should be used. In an emergency, always dial 911.
