Barrie man accused in "violent spree"

Barrie Police received numerous complaints to the east end of Barrie Friday night during the supper hour, all pertaining to the same 27 year old Barrie man on a violent spree. 

The accused began by entering his girlfriend's residence where he [allegedly] immediately assaulted her without provocation and drove off in her vehicle; though he was a disqualified driver.

The male didn't go far. 

He proceeded a few streets over where he came across an unknown male and [allegedly] punched him in the head before shouting threats at a female witness as she stood across the street with her young children. 

The male walked off punching and spitting at the cars that lined the street and was located back at his girlfriend's residence a short time later.

Upon the male's arrest he continued to be violent, fighting with the officers as he was taken into custody. 

A quantity of a controlled drug substance was located on his person. 

It is believed that male was under the influence of a similar substance due to his frenzied behaviour.

The male continued to be assaultive with police at the station, attempting to cause damage to police equipment and assaulting two officers.

The male was held for bail to answer to numerous violence and compliance based charges.
