Barrie Fire and Emergency Service (BFES) is teaming up with partners from the Canadian Automatic Sprinkler Association (CASA), Titan Sprinklers and Paul Davis Restoration to hold a live burn demonstration using specially built cells that recreate a room in a typical home.

This will take place on Friday, June 1 from 11 a.m. – 12 p.m. at the Centennial Beach Parking Lot, 65 Lakeshore Drive (beside the basketball courts).

It will be a side-by-side burn demonstration featuring one room with working sprinklers and one room with no sprinklers to highlight how quickly fire spreads and the effect of home sprinklers.

BFES will use the burned out rooms as part of their display at Celebrate Barrie on Saturday to highlight the importance of having working smoking alarms, a home escape plan and to educate the public about what happens after someone experiences a fire.

Partners will be on-site to further educate about the process for restoring properties and the importance of having insurance.
