Georgian Communities, a Barrie-based residential community developer and home builder, has been named a finalist in the Canadian Home Builders Association (CHBA) Awards for Housing Excellence.
The award-winning company — which has been active in commercial and residential land development since 1985 — is in the running for two different categories for its The Nottawasaga design, part of the company’s Windfall at Blue development, including Best Detached Production Home (1,800 to 2,100 square feet) and New Home Spaces.
"Georgian Communities is grateful to be recognized among top new home builders and developers in Canada," Georgian International vice president of sales and marketing Mike Parker told BarrieToday. "We consider this a testament to the dedication and hard work of our entire team. We are incredibly proud to see the Windfall at Blue community vision become reality, it truly is a special place."
The annual competition recognizes the best in Canadian new homes, home renovations, community development and residential marketing. Georgian International was among a record-setting 800 entries from eight provinces, showcasing a variety of housing types from large cities and small towns.
The competition’s categories include a wide range of housing types: from single-family houses to high-rises, and entry-level homes to luxury custom builds. Entries also include homes built for rental and ownership.
Entries were judged by a panel of nearly 200 industry experts, who reviewed images, floor plans, and project descriptions in order to select the top entries in each category.
“From innovative design to incredible renovation transformations to thoughtfully-planned communities, this year’s finalists are an impressive representation of the incredible work done by Canada’s residential construction industry, which is made up of small family-run businesses as well as larger companies,” CHBA chief executive officer Kevin Lee said in a news release.
