This year, the Barrie and District Association of Realtors in partnership with the RealtorsCare Foundation, gave over $13,000 to shelter-based organizations across the Greater Simcoe Region.

On Jan. 22, 2020 at the BDAR Member Open House, Youth Haven and Habitat for Humanity Huronia accepted this donation to support their initiatives within the community. In attendance at this event was City of Barrie, Mayor Jeff Lehman, OREA Director-At-Large and BDAR Past-President, Mike Douglas, and the Ontario Real Estate Association CEO, Tim Hudak.

“BDAR is dedicated to being more involved within our community and supporting local initiatives. Both these organizations align with our beliefs of providing supportive, affordable, safe and accessible housing for those in need,” BDAR 2020 President Robin Jones says.

Youth Haven will use this donation towards their efforts on tackling homelessness in youth across the region, as well as helping youth become successful adults by providing transitional housing. Lucy Gowers, Executive Director, and Martin Andrews, Director, accepted the donation and Lucy shared words of gratitude and how efforts like this make an impact in our community.
