Assailants break into Midland home, occupant sprayed with substance

(MIDLAND, ON) - On Sept. 30, 2018 at 2:05 a.m. members of the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to an report of an disturbance at a Johnson Street home in the Town of Midland after the OPP Communications Center received a 911 call from the home.

Responding officers attended and spoke with the occupants, one of whom was sprayed with a substance similar to bear spray after he confronted the unknown assailants in the home.

The unknown (4-5) assailants who broke into the home through a rear door had fled the scene prior to the arrival of the police. They are being described as being males wearing dust masks and ball caps. The area was searched by the OPP Central Region K-9 Unit and the investigation is continuing with the assistance of the detachment Community Street Crime Unit.
