The ‘Walk a Mile in Her Shoes’ event in Barrie will benefit local women and children affected by intimate partner violence and supported by the Women and Children’s Shelter of Barrie. The Women and Children’s Shelter of Barrie relies heavily on community support and donations to be able to provide programs and services in Simcoe County.

For over 40 years, the Women and Children is Shelter of Barrie, has been providing a safe and secure refuge for abused women and their children in Simcoe Community. Since 2001, men, women, and their families around the world have joined the Walk a Mile in Her Shoes Event. Walk a Mile in Her Shoes is a symbolic march that gives men and male-identifying allies the opportunity to take a stand against violence against women.

The Women and Children’s is Shelter is a 27-bed facility offering 24-hour emergency and residential support. Funds raised from this event provide shelter, individual counselling, legal advocacy, housing transition services, a 24-hour crisis line, group support, and public education programs, all in the effort of creating the best life for women escaping abuse. The goal for 2023 is $70,000 and we know the Barrie and Simcoe County region is ready to support #WAM2023 through individual or team fundraising.

Sponsorship opportunities are still available and teams can now register online here! For more information, please contact Community Development Manager, Deb James at (705) 817-1189 or by email.
