Shakespeare's words will come to life again on the shore of Georgian Bay this summer as a local theatre troupe performs at the Shipyards Amphitheatre at the end of the month.

Theatre Georgian Bay is bringing back its annual series: Bard on the Bay, this year featuring The Tempest, by William Shakespeare.

The series has been running since 2016 as an accessible and scenic option for audiences to enjoy the works of classic literature by one of history's most famous bards.

According to a news release from the theatre company, there were many submissions by professional cast members to join the 2023 Bard on the Bay production, which runs for ten performances from July 27 to Aug. 7 in Collingwood at the Amphitheatre at the north end of Maple Street.

"With accessibility in mind, Theatre Georgian Bay proudly presents The Tempest on a pay-what-you-will basis," states the news release. "The company hopes to attract even more families and individuals with a passion for great storytelling and unique theatrical experiences without the pressure of breaking the bank."
