Local musician Sammy (Sam Johnston) will take to the St. Paul’s Centre stage in Orillia for a Pub Night performance Feb. 17.

Sammy is a singer-songwriter from Oro-Medonte. Her blues, rock, and old-school country roots are audible in her guitar playing, which is accompanied by her raspy voice and subtly gloomy lyrics. Her first EP, Sad to Say, was released to all major platforms in the summer of 2020.

Her influences range from Tom Waits and Janis Joplin to Alice in Chains. She finds herself in her element playing solo and with various backing bands in unique bars and small businesses. Sammy received the 2021 Emerging Artist award from the Orillia Regional Arts and Heritage Awards.

The Feb. 17 performance will start at 6 p.m. Pub food (chili) and a cash bar will be available. The cover charge is $10 at the door.

St. Paul’s Centre is located at 62 Peter St. N., Orillia.
