Local country musician set to hit the stage at North Country BBQ

'Music fuels the soul and that, combined with amazing people, equals an awesome evening out,' says local realtor

Country music isn’t just about pick up trucks, whisky and cowboys. It is also good for the soul and a good time.

Elmvale native Graham Scott Fleming will be one of two Canadian Country music artists taking the stage at North Country BBQ on June 1, as part of North of the Six, a special country music event sponsored by Pine Tree Real Estate Brokerage.

Since officially launching his career more than a decade ago, Graham has opened for acts like Derrick Ruttan, High Valley and Jason Blaine. He has also been honing his performance skills for the past nine years working as a theatre and film actor in Toronto and on Broadway in New York City.

The event is a great way for people to get together for a good time now that live music has returned, says realtor Emily Hay.

“Music fuels the soul and that, combined with amazing people, equals an awesome evening out,” she said. “There is an incredible amount of talent from Barrie and the surrounding area. It is so important to give performers and artists opportunities like this, especially coming out of the pandemic, where as we all know, the arts were hit incredibly hard.”

Wednesday’s show will also feature music by Ajax, Ont., native Kris Barclay, who has spent the last nine years opening for artists as Brett Kissel, The Washboard Union, The Road Hammers, Gord Bamford and Dean Brody. At the 2018 Boots and Hearts Music Festival in Oro-Medonte, Barclay was voted in as the wildcard entry into the Emerging Artist Showcase, which he won.

Both artists will be joined by the house band The Agenda. Doors open at 6 p.m. with music set to start at 8 p.m.

Tickets for the show are $10 online and available through Eventbrite

North Country BBQ is located at the Five Points in downtown Barrie.
