Barrie resident and emerging children's book author Angela S. Doyon is set to enchant young readers with the official launch of titles released under her publishing brand, Betty Bear Books, at the Barrie Public Library's Painswick location on Sunday, Dec. 17.
Doyon's first children's book, I Pooped in My Suit, made an impressive debut on Amazon.ca, soaring to No. 1 in a children's book category and securing the remarkable position of No. 714 in all books on its first day. This achievement marks not only the success of her inaugural work but also earned her a coveted Best Seller badge on Amazon.ca.
The launch event will take place in the Massie Family Community Room at the Barrie Public Library, 48 Dean Ave.
The festivities are divided into two sessions, with the first session running from 10 to 11:30 a.m., and the second from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Each session includes a reading of Doyon's titles, at 10:30 a.m. and 12 p.m. respectively. Open to both adults and children, the event promises a delightful experience for families.
Attendees will have the opportunity to meet the author, shop for titles, and enjoy a captivating storytime, with a reading of her debut book and an upcoming Christmas tale, followed by a book signing.
Limited tickets are available for $2 each, and every child attending will receive a special gift.
In the spirit of giving, all ticket proceeds will be donated to Hank's Haven Rescue Foundation, a local animal rescue organization serving Simcoe County.
Doyon's dedication to fostering positive communication and imaginative exploration extends beyond her children's books. She has also designed and published a guided daily journal for children, centred around the principles of laughter, joy, confidence, and gratitude.
