Dwayne Gretzky performing New Year's Eve concert in Toronto

Band that features Oro-Medonte native performing Dec. 31 at History in Toronto

A popular cover band that includes Oro-Medonte native Dave Dalrymple is set to play a New Year’s Eve show at History in Toronto.

“Party like it’s 1999 with everyone’s favourite cover band, Dwayne Gretzky, taking over Toronto’s newest top-of-the-line music venue, History, for NYE with its can’t-miss live music experience, a curated nostalgia trip that captures the unique joy of turning a radio dial and being surprised by the familiar,” the band said in a news release.

The band is described as a “musical juggernaut” that “brings to life many of the greatest songs of all time, and ignites audiences with their charm, fidelity and theatrical flair.”

Dwayne Gretzky’s New Year’s Eve concerts have been a tradition for 13 years.

“Since 2012, Dwayne Gretzky has provided the soundtrack to the new year every year to consistently sold-out crowds. Nearly 300,000 people have rung in the new year with Dwayne Gretzky since the tradition began.”

As usual, the band will partner with MusiCounts to raise money for the music education charity. Donations can be made during the concert at History, and all proceeds from merchandise sales will go toward this year’s fundraising goal of $25,000.

Tickets for the Dec. 31 concert are available at dwaynegretzky.com. They are about 50 per cent sold out.

The concert will also be livestreamed here.
