'Barrie-onto' should be the new name of Barrie.

Just took a drive around the outskirts of my neighbourhood. Thousands of new homes starting at $1.3 million. So close together, I'm not sure how they got scaffolding for the brickwork. No backyard, no front yard.

Someone decided we needed to be the next Toronto a few years back. I have travelled half the world and Toronto is the blandest city I have ever encountered.

So if we're going to be the next big smog, let's get it over with. Forget any new houses. Just go with a skyline of 50- to 100-plus storeys of apartments. That way we can lead the world and be the new centre of the universe.

We can have the highest crime rate, murder rate and suicide rate, and all the icing that comes with it. Let's ramp up the growth. We need to get back to the old bottle-neck road system we all suffered through ... 24/7 noise and light pollution. Let’s enjoy a police force handcuffed with the homeless among all the other shortcomings.

Stop doing mediocre to poor planning — ramp it up full on. Let's show the world we're the biggest and worst. We can do this in 50 years or less I believe.
