LETTER: Let police do their job 'with or without the jab'

'Should we get rid of our brave policemen and let the criminals run the show?' asks local lawyer

The following is an open letter to Simcoe North MPP Jill Dunlop and Simcoe North MP-elect Adam Chambers regarding the requirement of police officers to be vaccinated.
*************************

I really don’t care if the police, whether RCMP, OPP, or other police forces, who are working to protect me and my family are vaccinated or not. Every one should lay off that subject please and let them do their job with or without the jab.

Canada is a land of accommodating people who are different from each other. That is our proud strength. The anti-vaccine paranoia is destroying that.

I am vaccinated by choice and I respect those who don’t agree with me. We can work through this on a reasonable basis. I am told the vaccine will protect me so if that is true why would I protest when an unvaxxed policeman is investigating a break-in at my house etc., etc.?

In my lifetime, we have been through too many terrible mistaken mandates by our governments which were all regretted later. How about thalidomide and oxycontin, anti-homosexual fervour in the 1950s and '60s, the UFFI scandal in the '70s and '80s, not to mention plenty more.

Love our prime minister or not; he and we deserve to be protected.

I recall watching John Diefenbaker stand up in Parliament and say, ‘Are the loons loose?’

You might want to remind all your co-Parliamentarians that statement seems to fit the present situation: Should we get rid of our brave policemen and let the criminals run the show?
