I have just finished reading the letter from Mr. Christopher Mansour in regards to the actions in Ukraine in which he suggests the “no-fly zone” should have been invoked.

Mr. Mansour, I truly empathize with your thoughts. The destruction in Ukraine by the leader of Russia is indeed obscene. I cannot imagine living in a situation in which you are not sure whether you will find food, warmth and shelter tomorrow or the days to come.

I can’t even imagine the constant fear that must paralyze these folks and indeed our hearts and minds are with them.

I do, however, suggest the implications of a no-fly zone may be rather rash. Does it not mean that any aircraft flying in that zone will be obliterated? Do you not think that at that point all NATO countries will have to be involved?

It seems we may be dealing with a Russian leader dealing with major psychotic issues. I cannot help but think the statement may be calling for World War III, which is of benefit to no one, including the Russian people who by the greatest part are truly innocent.

I understand that the Bible indicates “the world will be destroyed by fire,” however would it not be apt to try more diplomacy. I see that as the Russian people become more aware of the situation in Ukraine, they are starting to rebel, there may be a leadership change.

You may recall that at one of the early press conferences, when Mr. Putin suggested “nuclear warfare,” even his military leaders looked perplexed.

No one wants a war, that may be our fate, but I also believe it’s God’s will that we work toward peace.
