Health unit reports two new COVID cases in Barrie today

One local case is a 35- to 44-year-old male, while the other is a female aged 18 to 34 years old; There are 10 new cases in the region today

The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has confirmed 10 new COVID-19 cases in Simcoe County today, including one youth under 18.

Two new Barrie cases were announced today: one case in a 35-44 year old male, and an 18-34 year old female.

Two new cases in Bradford-West Gwillimbury were reported as part of today’s update, one 35-44 year old female and a 45-64 year old female. One case previously assigned to Bradford was removed as it was re-assigned to a different health unit    

New Tecumseth has one new cases, an 18-34 year old female.

Clearview Township had one new case, an 18-34 year old male, with the transmission source listed at close contact.

There were three new Essa Township cases on the update, of a 45-64 year old male, an 18 to 34 year old female and a male under 18 years old.

One case of a 35 to 44 year old male is on the list, with his location listed as pending.

The sources for nine of the cases is still under investigation.

One case previously assigned to Barrie was re-assigned to Bradford West-Gwillimbury upon closer examination of the case address data, and one case previously assigned to Adjala-Tosorontio was removed as it was re-assigned to another public health unit.

Five cases previously reported as acquired through travel were re-assigned to close contact upon further examination of the data.

There was one new school case reported last night, at Bradford District High School.

The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has reported a total of 921 cases of COVID-19. There are now 786 cases listed as recovered. There are 94 active cases. There are no hospitalizations reported on the health unit website. Thirty-eight people have died.
