Employee at Bayfield Street Loblaws tests positive for COVID

The worker's last shift was on Dec. 4, according to the company

The Loblaws store on Bayfield Street in north-end Barrie has had a team member test positive for COVID-19.

The company website was updated Tuesday to include the store located at 472 Bayfield St. The person tested positive on a presumptive test for COVID and “the last day the team member worked was on Dec. 4."

This follows Monday’s announcement that six staff members employed at the Collingwood Loblaws store had tested positive.

Regarding the Collingwood positive tests, Loblaws public relations said the six active cases were "confirmed over the last few weeks."

Previous cases were confirmed on Nov. 27 and Dec. 4 with the employees' last shift being Nov. 21 and Dec. 4, respectively.

The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit is notified of all positive tests within the jurisdiction and will get in touch with any high-risk close contacts of known cases. In the event they cannot personally contact all high-risk individuals, the health unit will make a public announcement about potential exposure. No such announcement has been made.
