The City of Barrie is implementing changes to parking along Dunlop St. to make it easier for downtown businesses and their customers to take advantage of curbside pickup.
Effective today (May 12), the City of Barrie is temporarily designating all on-street parking spaces along Dunlop St. from Poyntz St. to Toronto St. as “loading only zones” under the Traffic By-law. This change limits parking to standing for 10 minutes or less and will help maintain traffic flow in the area. The change is in effect until further notice.
On May 6, the Province announced that all retail stores with a street entrance can provide curbside pickup and delivery as of Monday, May 11. Businesses must continue to follow the City’s COVID-19 Emergency Measures By-law and ensure all customers maintain a physical distance of at least 2 metres from anyone outside of their business while conducting pickups. Businesses are encouraged to review the Province’s workplace safety guidelines at www.ontario.ca/reopen.
Residents are reminded that the following parking and traffic impacts are in effect due to the Dunlop St. construction project:
· Mulcaster St. to Owen St. is open to local traffic only and vehicles will have to complete a three-point turn to get out.
· There is no vehicle access or parking available on Dunlop St. from Maple St. to Mary St. and from Owen St. to Clapperton St.
· Two-hour free parking is available at the Chase McEachern Way (including 15 Bayfield St. lot) and Maple Avenue Central parking lots. You must print a receipt from the machine and display it on your vehicle dashboard to be eligible for free two-hour parking.
