Community Builders Awards: Hailey Mills-Knapp helps students and educators thrive

This year’s Education Award winner provides critical support in the special education sector at Simcoe County District School Board

Hailey Mills-Knapp is a passionate and highly motivated special education consultant with the Simcoe County District School Board who works tirelessly to reduce barriers students face in the classroom.

She is a champion for promoting an inclusive environment that meets the needs of children from different backgrounds with different, specific needs, through a focus on mutual respect, encouragement and positive expectations.

In particular, Hailey’s work helps students joining a traditional classroom for the first time to adjust to the routines and expectations of attending school, from a social, educational and physical perspective.

She also spends a lot of time helping other educators by supporting their programming and instructional strategies and developing technology to improve the students’ experience. These resources help to build more confidence in teachers which in turn benefit the students in the classroom.

Hailey’s innovative methods continue to enrich students’ lives in a way that extends beyond the classroom, helping to teach them skills of lifelong learning and resilience. Her guidance also provides teachers with the tools they need to adapt to changing technologies within their field and help students flourish.

The Education Award is presented to a student, teacher, administrator, or education advocate who has made a difference in our community.

Congratulations, Hailey!

This award is proudly sponsored by Georgian College.
