The Southern Cruisers Riding Club (SCRC) is a free, family-oriented motorcycle riding club that is focused on the enjoyment and fellowship of riding in a safe environment. A focus of SCRC is giving back – something the club has happily done for many years. This year, SCRC is riding for the Down Syndrome Association of Simcoe County (DSASC).

Event organizer and SCRC member Jeff Tress says, “This is our third year riding for the DSASC. The club has been doing charity rides long before I joined in 2010. Three years ago, we selected this non-profit as our charity of choice. I absolutely love it! On the day of the ride some of the children with Down Syndrome attend. It’s incredible to see the smiles on their faces when they see all the motorcycles.

This year’s ride takes place on July 8 and there are several ways to show support – by purchasing tickets as a primary rider or secondary rider, or by offering a donation.

Participation provides access to a $6 breakfast, the scenic ride, a BBQ lunch, prizes, and a silent auction. This event is open to all bikes and all clubs.

The funds raised go a very long way in supporting the mission of the DSASC.

The DSASC is a non-profit organization that aims to enhance the quality of life of individuals with Down Syndrome, and their families, by providing access to educational resources, social events, and recreational activities. The DSASC believes in empowering individuals with Down Syndrome to reach their full potential by providing them with opportunities to develop their talents and skills and promoting inclusion and acceptance in the community.

In addition to its programs and services, the DSASC also raises awareness and advocates for the rights of individuals with Down Syndrome and their families. The organization relies in part on the generosity of the community to fund their work, and they welcome donations and volunteers to support their efforts.

You can support this worthy cause by joining the charity ride, donating to the charity ride, or by donating directly to the DSASC.
