With March break for Simcoe County students coming up quickly, everyone is looking for entertaining and affordable day outings that aren’t weather dependent and are fun for the whole family.

Luckily, Events by Morey Made has local families covered with two Easter Scavenger Hunts and Vendor Markets, on March 9 and 17, nicely bookending March break.

Both markets run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The March 9 market is located at the Allandale Recreation Centre, while the March 17 market is happening at the South Shore Community Centre.

“Both markets have over 40 different vendors,” explained event organizer Paulette Morey. “There will be lots of food items, including cotton candy, incredible baked goods, as well as handcrafts, jewellery, and artisanal items. Lots for the whole family to browse and choose from while supporting local!” she smiled.

For the children, there will be a Scavenger Hunt at each market, which will be tailored to different ages. “There will be a couple of different scavenger hunts for the kids, with lots of treats as the reward,” said Morey. “We will also do a draw for each age group with a larger prize, that will bring a little bit of additional excitement to the kids and their families.”

The Easter Bunny will be hopping by as well, so there’s a chance to meet the Easter Bunny and snap a photo courtesy of Kiss Photography.

Local authors Megan Galati and Leslie Hughes will do book readings and signings at the March 9 market, and Leslie will be at the March 17 event as well. “We want to have lots of excellent activities for the children to do at the market, so it really will be fun for everyone,” Morey said.

Admission to both markets is free, but donations are gratefully accepted for Barrie Families Unite (BFU), a charity that Morey wholeheartedly supports with all her events. “BFU is a phenomenal helping hand for so many in our area, so we try to help any way we can. In addition to donations at the door, we have some NEW fundraising opportunities happening during both markets,” said Morey.

Events by Morey Made is well known in the area for putting on high-quality, fun-filled markets, and these Easter markets will be no exception. Morey said, “We look forward to seeing our Barrie families out at our March markets, supporting our artisans and local charity, and of course, having a fantastic day out, as well.”
