Vehicle theft evidence trail leads to Barrie man

On June 8th, 2016 Barrie Police investigated a break and enter and theft of motor vehicle from a residence on Crompton Drive in the City of Barrie.

The unoccupied, stolen vehicle was recovered a short time later in the area of Parkside Drive. Police collected evidence from within the vehicle and the evidence was sent away for forensic analysis.

In July 2016 Police received confirmation of an evidence match to a known offender, a 35-year-old Barrie man. On September 4th, 2016 Police arrested and charged the accused with break and enter, theft of motor vehicle and possession of stolen property over $5000.

Upon arresting the accused a stolen iPhone was also located on the male which has resulted in an additional charge of possession of stolen property under $5000.

The accused was transported to the Barrie Police Service and held pending a bail hearing.
