Two crimes involving alcohol

In unrelated incidents, a 41-year-old male is accused of drunk driving and a 31-year-old female is accused of shoplifting liquor

On Saturday, Oct. 15, 2016, at approximately 2:17 a.m., a vehicle was observed proceeding through a red light in the area of Maple Avenue.

A traffic stop was conducted at which time Police determined that the 41-year-old, male driver had alcohol in his system.

Upon further investigation the male was placed under arrest for impaired operation. The male was also on conditions to abstain from the consumption of alcohol and therefore charged with breaching his undertaking and  probation order.

The male was transported to the Barrie Police Service where he is held pending a bail hearing.

On Friday, Oct. 14, 2016, at approximately 2:37 p.m., a 31-year-old Barrie female entered the LCBO on Mary Street where she was observed concealing a bottle of liquor in her purse and exiting the store without paying for the item.

The female was placed under arrest for theft under $5,000 by a Loss Prevention Officer on scene. Prior to police arrival the female became confrontational with the Loss Prevention Officer. Police arrived shortly after and continued the arrest.

The female was already on outstanding charges for the same offences and therefore held at the Barrie Police Service pending a bail hearing.
