Sport bike seized and charges laid

Barrie Police Traffic Enforcement Unit was at the right place at the right time when a speedy motorbike raced around Lakeshore Drive Tuesday evening.

On Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at 8:50 p.m. the traffic officer observed the sport bike travelling southbound at excessive speeds along Lakeshore Drive, in the City of Barrie.  

The driver was aware police had their eyes on him and he continued to pass vehicles on the right shoulder to allude police. Thanks to the open sight-lines along the waterfront, the officer was able to keep an eye on the bike without pursuing it further.  

The driver pulled into a plaza on Tiffin Street, trying to hide his bike behind a dumpster, however the officer was able catch up and locate him.

The driver, a 30-year-old Mississauga male, was charged with Owner Operate Motor Vehicle - No Insurance, Use Plate Not Authorized for Vehicle, Careless Driving, and Driving While Under Suspension. His bike was seized and impounded for seven days.
