Saturday night shooting sends man to trauma centre

Police are still investigating and seeking a suspect; Investigators believe incident is isolated

Police are seeking those responsible for a shooting last night in the Letitia Heights area that left a man with life-threatening injuries.

Just before 10:30 p.m., Saturday, a man in his mid-40s was walking along the catwalk from Leacock Drive towards Kipling Place when he became involved in an altercation with a group of people.

Barrie police communications co-ordinator Peter Leon told BarrieToday the man was shot multiple times.

“He was taken to a local hospital and was then transported to a Toronto area trauma centre with life-threatening injuries,” said Leon. “It is believed that this incident is isolated.”

Leon said no arrests have been made as the investigation is ongoing and further details will be provided.
