On Friday, July 29, 2016 at approximately 1:40 pm Police responded to a weapons call at 136 Bayfield St. It had been reported that a male had entered the Ontario Works building with handgun concealed in his waistband.

On Friday, July 29, 2016 at approximately 1:40 pm Police responded to a weapons call at 136 Bayfield St. It had been reported that a male had entered the Ontario Works building with handgun concealed in his waistband.  The male was taken into custody without incident. The investigation revealed that the handgun was a replica and the male's intentions were not clear.  The male was charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and held for a bail hearing.

On Friday, July 29, 2016 at approximately 4:27 pm Police attended the plaza at 165 Wellington St W in regards to a wanted party. The male was wanted on several warrants and was taken into custody without incident. The male was held for a bail hearing.

On Friday, July 29, 2016 at approximately 11:58 pm Police attended an address on Shanty Bay Rd in regards to a Robbery. Two males attended the rear door of the residence and attempted to gain entry.  The homeowner heard the commotion and went to the rear door.  The males, one of which was armed with a rifle, demanded money and drugs from the homeowner. The homeowner screamed and the males left the area on foot. The Barrie Police Service K9 unit, along with the Tactical Support Unit, tracked the suspects to Blake St before losing the scent. The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Barrie Police Service.

The Barrie Police Service arrested four males for being intoxicated in a public place in the downtown core during the evening hours on Friday, July 29, 2016. The males were transported to the station and held until sober.
