Police seize loaded revolver during call for assault in Wasaga Beach: OPP

The 28-year-old Barrie resident faces multiple charges as a result

WASAGA BEACH – Members of the Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested a male for being in possession of a loaded firearm in Wasaga Beach.

On Sunday July 11, 2021, at approximately 2 a.m., the Huronia West OPP responded to a 9-1-1 call at a local bar on Main Street for a report of a fight in progress.

Multiple officers attended and upon arrival, a male was placed under arrest for assault. During the investigation, a loaded revolver was located in the possession of the arrested male.

As a result, Michael McPherson, 28, from Barrie, has been charged with the following; 

  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited firearm 
  • Knowledge of unauthorized possession firearm 
  • Careless storage of firearm 
  • Possess firearm contrary to Prohibition Order - two counts 
  • Fail to comply probation - two counts 
  • Assault
