Police seek witnesses to fatal single-vehicle crash in Innisfil

South Simcoe police seek witnesses to a fatal crash that occurred in Innisfil Feb. 26.

A driver has died and investigators are now searching for answers following a crash in Innisfil early Monday morning.

South Simcoe police responded to a report of a vehicle that was flipped over in a ditch and submerged in water on the 10th Sideroad, south of the 3rd Line, Feb. 26 at about 5:20 a.m. Once on scene, officers found the driver — the lone occupant of the vehicle — without vital signs. 

“Despite life-saving efforts by officers at the scene, the victim was pronounced deceased after being transported to hospital,” spokesperson Sue Sgambati said in a media release.

The department’s traffic and marine unit attended the scene to conduct a collision reconstruction investigation. Meanwhile, the 10th Sideroad was closed between the 2nd and 3rd lines for several hours.
